Newborn Photography
Clitheroe · Ribble Valley · Lancashire
Expecting a newborn baby is a moment like no other.
Whether this is your first baby or you’re welcoming another little one, those early days are filled with love, emotion, and change — and they pass far quicker than anyone ever expects.
If you’re looking for a newborn photographer in Lancashire, you’re in the right place. I specialise in calm, baby-led newborn photography that gently captures the first days and weeks of your baby’s life.
I offer both studio newborn sessions and newborn photography in your own home, so you can choose what feels right for you. Some parents love the simplicity of a studio session, while others prefer the comfort of staying at home — there’s no right or wrong, just what suits your family best.
Newborn photography is at the heart of what I do. With specialist training in newborn photography and safe handling, sessions are calm, unhurried, and guided by your baby — so you can simply relax and enjoy these moments.

When to Book Your Newborn Photography Session
Newborn sessions are best booked during pregnancy, ideally sometime after your 20-week scan. This simply means your due date is pencilled into my diary — we don’t fix an exact date until your baby arrives.
The ideal time for newborn photography is when your baby is between 5 and 21 days old. During these first weeks, babies are often more settled and sleepy, which allows for those softly curled, peaceful newborn portraits.
Because I take on a limited number of newborn sessions each month to keep everything calm and baby-led, my diary does tend to fill up. Booking early ensures your session is reserved for those first days after your baby arrives.
If your baby has already been born or is a little older, please don’t worry. I always encourage you to reach out — if I have availability, I’ll be more than happy to chat and see what’s possible.
What a Session Is Really Like
When we start, we slow things down.
We chat, have a drink, and talk through how the session will flow. I’ll guide you gently, so you never feel unsure of what’s happening or what you’re meant to do.
If your baby needs feeding, we stop.
If they need settling, we take our time.
If siblings need a break, we work around it.
Your only job is to be there with your baby.
After Your Session
Once your session is complete, my work continues behind the scenes.
I carefully edit each image, paying close attention to the small details that make your photographs feel soft, timeless, and true to your family. Every image is finished with care, so your gallery feels cohesive and meaningful — never rushed or over-edited.
Your online gallery is usually ready within 1–2 weeks, where you’ll be able to view and choose your favourite images. The result is more than just photographs — it’s a collection of memories from your baby’s first days that you’ll treasure for years to come.
''Thank you so much! You were so great during our newborn photoshoot. You were so patient, understanding, and made us feel so relaxed. The pictures have turned out amazing! My friends are in awe of all the pics we have shared.''

Studio or Home — It’s Up to You
Some parents love the idea of a warm studio with soft light and simple styling. Others can’t imagine leaving the house in those first weeks. There’s no right or wrong choice — and you don’t need to decide before you talk to me.
Studio sessions take place in my cosy garden studio, where everything is ready for you — wraps, outfits, props, and carefully chosen colours. You simply arrive with your baby and we take it from there.
Home sessions are relaxed and natural, capturing your baby in your own space. If leaving the house feels overwhelming, or you love the idea of documenting those first days exactly as they are, this can be a beautiful option.
Both approaches are calm, baby-led, and guided with the same level of care.

A relaxed, natural approach

If you love the idea of capturing your baby in the comfort of your own home, this session is designed to feel calm, natural and completely unhurried.
Rather than structured posing, the focus is on real moments and connection — cuddles on the sofa, quiet moments in the nursery, and the gentle rhythm of those early days together.
Some families prefer a fully documentary style, while others enjoy a mix of natural family portraits alongside a few softly posed images of baby. We can decide what feels right for you on the day.
I work with the natural light in your home, bringing additional lighting if needed, to keep everything soft, simple and relaxed.

• Relaxed lifestyle session in your home
• Baby, parents and siblings included
• Natural family portraits and baby details
• 40–60 carefully edited images

Many mums book their newborn session first and only later realise they’d love a few photos from pregnancy too. If that sounds like you, I also offer calm, natural maternity sessions — with no pressure at all.
If you’re curious, you can read more about maternity photography here.
Unforgettable smiles, giggles, and growing personalities — the sitter stage is full of so much joy. Around 6–10 months, babies are sitting, interacting, and showing the world exactly who they are, and it’s such a special stage to capture.
These sessions are relaxed, playful, and full of laughter, focusing on your baby’s expressions, curiosity, and all those little moments you never want to forget.

FAQ

When is the best time to book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions are best booked during pregnancy, usually after your 20-week scan. This simply means your due date is pencilled in — we don’t choose an exact date until your baby arrives.
The ideal time to photograph newborns is when they’re between 5 and 21 days old, as they’re often more settled during this stage. If your baby is a little older, please don’t worry — there’s still so much beauty to capture, and I’m always happy to chat about what’s possible.
Do I need to bring anything to the session?
You don’t need to bring anything special.
My studio is fully stocked with wraps, outfits, props, and accessories, and I’ll guide you beforehand so everything is ready when you arrive.
Just bring your baby, feeds, nappies, and anything you might need to feel comfortable during the session.
Can parents and siblings be included in the photos?
Yes — and I really encourage it.
These early days aren’t just about your baby, but about your family too. Parent and sibling portraits are included in the Full Newborn Session, and we keep everything relaxed and natural.
What if my baby needs feeding or won’t settle?
That’s completely normal — and expected.
Sessions are unhurried, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddles, and breaks whenever your baby needs them. Nothing is rushed, and there’s no pressure for things to go a certain way.
What if I’m not sure which session to choose?
That’s very common.
Most parents don’t decide straight away, and that’s absolutely fine. I’m always happy to talk things through and help you choose the option that feels right for you and your family.
